As a playwright, Lara is known for creating complex, loveable characters, clever dialogue, and richly interwoven textures of emotions. Her work has been produced by several Chicagoland theatres over the course of the past two decades. She is also the resident Playwright for the Walking Plays program at The Morton Arboretum. In 2022 for their Centennial Celebration, she was commissioned by the Board of Directors to tell the story of founder Joy Morton of Morton Salt fame.

 

Current Project: Love of a Lifetime (an original made for the holiday's musical) is currently in development, with a star-studded workshop cast and creative team, led by director Amber Mak. Stay posted for a staged-reading announcement!
